SHIMARIE

Shelties & Persians

WELCOME:

There are far too many poorly bred pups and kittens out today, and for this reason it is our end lifes effort to help make sure our chosen breeds are preserved with the utmost care.

We started with our first Sheltie "Willows Weeping May Wind CD, CGC". We purchased her at 2 days old and luckily she turned out to be a fantastic specimen of the breed. She is a Sable with extraordinary intelligence. We did not know as much about shelties then and failed on training her ears so decided to show her in obedience since we could not show her in conformation. She did wonderfully scoring in the top 3 and earning her CD in four shows. She earned her first leg winning 1st place with a big blue ribbon in the Louisville, KY show. We were very proud of her.

We enjoy showing our dogs in AKC and other events.

I have to show my admiration for a great breeder, Not of my breed, but of a great breed and one I've trained more than any of. Walter Martin in a legendary breeder Of the true German Shepherd and the father of the Wienerau dog. A favorite quote of mine from him during an interview is, "Then a thought came to my mind, something I had heard long ago I don’t know where or from whom, but which was ingrained in my memory forever: "I am not impressed" someone said "with the breeder who on the first or second litter ends up with some champions due to luck or having enough money to buy some good dogs. I am more impressed with the true breeder who has goals and works towards them in a systematic fashion and after 10 years he begins to produce exactly what he wants in a consistent fashion, and establishes a type that everyone can recognize."

The crowning moment for this master breeder did not come after 10 years. Or, for that matter, after 20, 30, or 40. It took 50 years for Walter Martin to see a lifetime of devotion be universally rewarded not with one, but with three Sieger and Siegerin titles in the same year—an accomplishment worthy of the Guinness Book of World Records.

Ricardo E. Carbajal who had done this interview with Walter Martin and noticed how down to earth and humble he was of his accomplishments said a great thing that we at Shimarie firmly believe is true, "Driving out of the kennel I turned and passed through the front gate. A very old and very small metal sign about 6" x 12" hung from the gate. It read: "Zwinger von der Wienerau." Such an understatement of greatness made me realize what true breeders are all about: Not ostentatious display, but great love for the breed, great loyalty to their friends, and great pride in work well done.

We believe the above should ring true for all that are breeders or those serious about their dogs. If you are looking for a pet of a specific breed they can be found in your local paper for pennies on the dollar. The old saying is true that you get what you pay for.

I would also like to add that we like to create as less of an impact on our planet as possible. We are consistently looking for ways of being more green for the welfare of our family (both the two and four legged) and what helps us breath better, feel better, live healthier, and leaves less of a footprint for future generations. Please take a look at our Flint River Ranch page and our links page for ways to better "green" your life and your pets. Our home is cleaned with only safe components that are not harmful to our pets health or ours. Our pets are fed food that is healthiest for them without all the added un-needed extra's. We do not use pesticides on our pets or chemicals on our yard that could potentially harm our animals or nature. As a matter of fact we feed the birds and squirells and welcome them into our yard. The dogs love a good game of chase and I actually think the squirells do too =).

Because they were created in His image, God gave men and women a privileged place among all creatures and commanded them to exercise stewardship over the earth (Genesis 1:26-28; Psalm 8:6-8). Stewardship implies caretaking, not abusing. We are to intelligently manage the resources God has given us, using all diligent care to preserve and protect them.

In addition to our role of caretakers, we are to appreciate the functionality and beauty of the environment.
